On the night of March 7, 1897, a small group of Pleasant Hill
citizens met at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jones Darnell, Sr. for the
purpose of organizing a church in their community. On March 20, the
ten charter members called Rev. T.W. Paris as the first pastor.
During the first year 12 members were added. The first building was
a white, frame structure which seated about 300 people. The
auditorium has been enlarged twice and in 1977 an educational
building was added.
Founded on and grounded in the Word of God Pleasant Hill Baptist
Church has marched forward over the years. The church under the
Lord’s leadership experienced and continues to experience growth and
immeasurable God-given blessings.
God has provided from the founding to the present, able and
dedicated Pastors to preach His Word without fear or reservation and
to lead His congregation to meet the challenges and needs of the
day.
For all that has been accomplished and for all that will be
accomplished for our Lord – “To God be the Glory.”
