Congratulations to the daycare children and teachers that participated in Operation Christmas Child.  98 shoeboxes were collected!

2009!!! God richly blessed the daycare during 2008 and we are expecting continued blessings in 2009!  We continue to have the maximum enrolled in the daycare that the state will allow us to have and several on our waiting list.  We have a child that started attending our facility just a few months ago.  Her mother came in the office and was expressing how thankful she is for the daycare.  She said she is very impressed with what her child has learned in a short period of time and with what she sees and hears in the other classrooms.  Her child has been to three other daycares while waiting for us to have an opening.  Mom made the comment that most of our “daycare families” probably do not realize how thankful they should be for Pleasant Hill because we are the only daycare they have known.   However, she has seen other daycares in operation so she has something to compare us with.

Each year about this time I have a BIG disagreement with most of the daycare teachers.  They wish for a lot of snow and they want it several times during the winter months.  They even have the kids saying, “Mrs. Phyllis. We want snow, we want snow!”  I grew up in Chicago and I have seen plenty of snow.  I do agree it would be nice to have enough snow for the children to stay home and enjoy playing in for ONE day.  Then, I want it to all go away.

The children will return to the daycare January 5 after being away for the Christmas holidays and vacation.  It may take a couple of days for the teachers to get the kids back into the routine.  But, there will be a lot of learning, craft, time and playing taking place during January.
